Satsang & Devotional Singing

DEVOTIONAL SINGING

With Cass Smith, every Sunday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

At the Religious Science Church of Today
26805 Murrieta Rd. • Sun City, CA

The significance of devotional singing is that it generates an elevating spiritual atmosphere.

Sai Baba says:

“…Singing the Name and Glory of God is the easiest, and yet, most effective method of unfolding the Divinity in our heart. When fire burns the wood, it covers itself by a layer of ashes. You blow out that ash and see the burning fire. Even so, the Blissful Self gets concealed under the cover of attachment and separateness. Singing the Name of God is the best means to remove this cover and experience Divinity in our heart. Divine-sound puts us in touch with God and gives us the experience of His Bliss."

The Sanksrit word, Satsang, means "Being in the company of the Holy." It means upliftment through good association. Cass will be talking & singing about the highest truth. In India, it's called, "the Path of Wisdom," which teaches that everything is God. All people, animals, all the elements, everything is God and only God exists.

This teaching explains that enlightenment is always here and now. But, we cannot realize it because of the thinking mind, with all its concepts, belief systems and thoughts. This is called, "mind" or "ego," which is always going into the past or future, rarely being in "the now."

This is the cause of our pain.

In the tradition of Ramana Maharshi and Nisargadatta Maharaj, the main spiritual practice is called, "Self-Inquiry." Basically, is being with the first person; "I" or "I am," which is our pure presence. We can experience our true divine nature which is pure presence (beingness), self-luminosity, love, and bliss.

Self-inquiry leads us to the direct experience of unity. It teaches us that we, ourselves are God through direct experience.

Self-inquiry has 4 aspects: Hearing the truth, reasoning out the truth, meditating on the truth, and finally, Samadhi -- the direct experience of the truth -- that there is only "One," and we all are that.

Cass has been to India 21 times and spent over 7 years with Sai Baba. He has been doing spritual practicies since the age of 20. He was born in 1951. Thousands of people have gone through his classes & programs in the last 25 years.
